Prioritising Youth Summer Camps at Step 4 of the Roadmap

Prioritising Youth Summer Camps at Step 4 of the Roadmap

We are asking for your assistance in a cross-communal campaign to advocate for residential activities for young people. The residential programmes created by our community’s youth movements provide a much-needed environment for young people to socialise, grow and explore their identities in a safe, informal setting, supporting healthy development and wellbeing.

This campaign has already made progress: from 21st June youth residentials can go ahead in bubbles of 30 children. This allows many youth movements to offer some form of residential camp this summer, but we believe the government should go further, enabling us to get closer to normality ...

This campaign has already made progress: from 21st June youth residentials can go ahead in bubbles of 30 children. This allows many youth movements to offer some form of residential camp this summer, but we believe the government should go further, enabling us to get closer to normality.

We are now campaigning for further changes under Step 4 on 19th July. We believe it would be wrong for youth residential activities to face restrictions such as group limits and social distancing whilst the rest of society unlocks and nightclubs, festivals, and sports events open as normal. Youth movements are in a position to create safe, covid-secure camps for our community’s children and young people.

Young people must be prioritised as the government relaxes restrictions. You can help the campaign by writing to your MP. We believe continued interventions by MPs directly to Sajid Javid will continue to have an impact. Writing to your MP and asking them to raise the issue of youth residentials will inform the government that young people and youth residentials are absolutely vital. Thank you for supporting this important campaign.

This campaign is being supported by The Jewish Leadership Council, UJIA and Reshet.
